Two people on the R prime lab site has nicknames and avatars on a similar theme. Pinoccio and Galatean. This inspired me to make a post about those references.
Galatea was the famous sculptor Pygmalion's masterpiece sculpture that came to life, after he prays to Aphrodite (My mistress Freia) to make it so. The greek myth made famous in Ovids Metamorhopses became the inspiration for many later stories in the history of literature, and still is. What first comes to mind today is of course Pinoccio... But my personal favourite on the theme is Der Sandmann by E.T.A. Hoffman
